![]() Here is a comparison between TAA Sharpened and DLSS Quality. ![]() Not only that, but the TAA image does not suffer from the aliasing issues that are present in DLSS Quality Mode. As such, and by adjusting the setting, we can get a sharper image with TAA (than with DLSS Quality). Now contrary to other games, Red Dead Redemption 2 offers a TAA Sharpening setting. ![]() I suggest opening the images in new tabs. As you can see, DLSS Quality looks sharper, though it does suffer from the aforementioned aliasing issues (pay close attention to the cashier’s hair for instance). Thus, we suggest using the Vulkan API.īut what about image quality? Below you can find some comparison screenshots between native 4K (left) and DLSS Quality (right). Still, DX12 had some frame pacing issues in the big city. Surprisingly enough, these stutters were absent from DX12. However, there were two annoying stutters at the end of the benchmark (which explains the lower minimum framerate). Vulkan appeared to be running faster on our RTX3080 at both native 4K and DLSS-upscaled. We’ve also tested DLSS (and native 4K) in both DX12 and Vulkan. In other words, DLSS Quality Mode improves performance by around 15-20%, which is nowhere close to what we’ve seen in other games. And as for 4K, DLSS Quality provided an 11fps boost. Unfortunately, though, we are only looking at a 10-14fps performance boost.Īt 1080p, our average framerate increased by 12fps and at 1440p, we saw a performance increase of 9fps. Now we wouldn’t really mind those jaggies if there were significant performance improvements. These “ jaggies” can be easily noticed on distant objects, especially during the benchmark scenes. Hell, there were aliasing issues even at 4K with DLSS Quality. On Ultra settings and at both 1080p and 1440p, the image quality suffers from noticeable aliasing issues. Unfortunately, DLSS in Red Dead Redemption 2 brings a lot of aliasing. As such, the game does not suffer from any ghosting or blur issues. As such, we’ve decided to benchmark it and see whether its implementation is as good as the one for Doom Eternal and LEGO Builder’s Journey.įor these benchmarks, we used an Intel i9 9900K with 16GB of DDR4 at 3600Mhz, NVIDIA RTX 3080, Windows 10 64-bit, and the GeForce 471.11 driver.Īs the title suggests, Red Dead Redemption 2 is using the latest version of DLSS, Version 2.2.10.0. For fun, here are all the photos that were in competition.Yesterday, Rockstar released the highly anticipated DLSS Patch for Red Dead Redemption 2. ![]() But as everyone knows, there is only one winner. It is true that among the shots offered, that of Joe Meizies – Red Dead Redemption 2 is by far the most successful, even if the photos of Gran Turismo 7 and Ghost of Tsushima would also have deserved a prize. The author of the photo is called Joe Meizies and he leaves with the latest model of the Razer Blade laptop. It was the Rockstar Games game that caught the eye of the jury, especially for this simple shot where we can see Arthur Morgan (or John Marston, who knows) on his horse contemplating Monument Valley, arguably the landscape that best represents the American West. Fifteen games were in the running and among them were The Last of Us 2, Cyberpunk 2077, Ghostwire Tokyo, Horizon Forbidden West, NiER Automata, Control, Ghost of Tsushima, Hellblade, Outriders, Gran Turismo 7, Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order, Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, The Division 2 and finally Red Dead Redemption 2. Note that the retouching was accepted by the jury to highlight each shot. If anyone could contemplate the virtual photographs and give their opinion aloud (or on social networks), it is indeed a jury made up of The Fourth Focus team, a website specializing in virtual photography, which was responsible for electing the most beautiful screenshot among those who were in competition. A competition launched at the same time as the event and whose photos were exhibited in Trafalgar Square, London. The London Game Festival, which was held from April 1 to 10, 2022, ended yesterday with the awarding of the prize for the best virtual photo taken in-game.
